Rebecca Tyler
Head Coach

Rebecca Tyler enters her fifth season at the helm of the Owls basketball program in 2017-18.

Tyler came to Bryn Mawr after spending the previous three seasons as the assistant coach at her alma mater, Widener University. While with the Pride, she served as the academic and recruiting coordinator, as well as the defensive coordinator for the 2012-13 season.

During her tenure at Widener, Tyler mentored the 2012 Middle-Atlantic Conference (MAC) Player of the Year, three 1st team all-conference selections, two academic All-Americans, WBCA All-American and Philadelphia Inquirer Performer of the Year. Tyler helped lead Widener to a national ranking of 12 from D3hoops.com, the 2012-13 NCAA Elite 8 and runner-up in the 2011-12 MAC Championships.

Tyler has coached at numerous basketball camps including the Bob Koch Point Guard Academy and the YMCA of the Main Line sports camps.

Tyler graduated from Widener in 2010 with a degree in business management with a concentration in sports. As a student-athlete, Tyler played from 2006-2010 and was a two-time team captain. In 2009 she helped lead Widener to the MAC championship and an NCAA appearance. She was named 2nd team All-Conference for the 2007-08 season and earned the MAC Sportsmanship Award in 2009.

Tyler resides in Wynnewood, Pa.

Carla Coleman
Assistant Coach

Carla Coleman enters her first season as an assistant coach for the Owls program in 2017-2018.

Prior to her arrival at Bryn Mawr, Coleman spent the previous three seasons (2014-2017) at Welsh Valley Middle School as the 7th grade basketball coach. Prior to Welsh Valley, she served as the head coach at Harriton High School for seven seasons (2005-2012). Coleman has over 15 years of coaching experience as an assistant and head coach at the high school and AAU level.

Carla Coleman played her collegiate basketball at Penn State University (1990-1995). Coleman was a two-year starter for the Lady Lions. She captured one Atlantic 10 and two Big Ten titles during her tenure. Coleman was also a member of the 19 and under USA Basketball Team during her collegiate career.

Coleman received her bachelor’s degree in Rehabilitation Services Education with a minor in Health Education from Penn State in 1995. She also earned her master’s degree in Secondary Education/School Counseling from Penn State in 1997. In 2015, Coleman completed her doctorate in Human Services with a Specialization in Counseling Studies at Capella University.

Coleman is currently a high school counselor at Harriton High School and resides in Philadelphia.
